BirdQuest VR is a surreal multiplayer virtual reality game from the twisted mind of Michael Smilovitch, a writer and cognitive science researcher turned game developer. In BirdQuest VR, Michael is transforming VR gaming from an isolated single player experience, to a more inclusive experience by allowing multiple players to enjoy a game with a single VR headset. BirdQuest explores asymmetrical multiplayer gaming, with one player in VR, and other players outside. The VR player embodies an onscreen avatar, while the non-VR players can interact with the avatar using a PC, creating endless opportunities for uniquely absurd gameplay. The game is linked to Bird Problems, a progressive metal band in which Michael sings and provides a range of supporting media. Bird Quest VR is a hybrid experience that merges music, comedic narrative, and experimental gaming.
